Med Student Information
4th Year Acting Internship, MSIV
Our program offers a four-week elective to qualified 4th year medical students in collaboration with the University of Washington. The rotation is structured as 3 weeks of inpatient medicine and 1 week of outpatient clinic.
It is our goal to offer students a rotation that closely replicates the experience of a first-year resident at Valley Family Medicine. They will work closely with senior residents on the Family Medicine Inpatient Service (FMIS) to manage a wide range of adult medical issues. Students will have 2 to 3 call shifts a week and carry a cap of 4 patients. On non-call days, they will be scheduled in clinic with patients on their own schedule.
Medical students will also have the opportunity to spend a day on Labor and Delivery with a family medicine attending. If possible, they will often have their own OB patient continuities. They will get to experience several of our specialty clinics such as high-risk OB clinic, OMT clinic, pediatrics clinic, and integrative medicine. Students spend time with our clinical pharmacist and behavioral health specialist in the outpatient setting. Didactics are incorporated into the student’s schedule as well.
Medical students receive a stipend for food. They are responsible for their own housing and transportation during the rotation. If finances are a concern, consider applying for our scholarship below.
We still have one more spot available for the 2026-2027 application year!
